Why Did They Come To You?

The company approached me directly to help initially with a tender return for Corporate Moves, and that led to me then going on to work across the group companies with their continuous improvement solutions.

For the past four years I have helped the company achieve their strategic goals and objectives. The company had set out an ambitious plan to improve profit margin across the group and they were looking for me to use my experience in process improvement activity to help them achieve their goals.

What Did You Do For Them?

I met with the Leadership Team and set out how the project would be tackled and having gained approval to proceed, I engaged with the key stakeholders within the business.

I met with each of them individually and heard their own plans about what was needing to be done to make the company even more successful. This gave me the platform to embark upon my improvement journey, with the benefit of buy-in across the group.

Delivery of the overall improvement initiative has required a skill set whereby I can empathise with staff, whilst getting them to follow standard processes and procedures.

My Activities Have Included Facilitation Of Improvement Teams,

the flow of materials plays a key role in the success of their operations, therefore my audits were designed to capture the current state of their performance, and the images below illustrate components of the manufacturing process, including storage bays, signage and workflow.

All audit report items were cross-referenced to the specific ISO 9001 clause in order that the owner of the process/procedure could make improvements that were aligned to a recognised international standard.

Communication was key as we were working to very tight timescales, therefore regular meetings with the senior management took place and I chaired all meetings relating to quality management activity.

The staff are now familiar with the RACI methodology and hold regular RACI review meetings to identify risk within any given stage of the process. The outcome of this improvement activity is an increase to the profit margin, improved internal and external communications and better team working across multiple teams.

I am now part of the Consultancy & Design team delivering specialist services to clients across the U.K. I was involved recently with the process improvement activity that supported a well-known high-end fashion brand that offers a wide range of products, including clothing, accessories, and home goods. They were moving to smaller HQ premises and I ensured that the new business process workflow would meet the needs of the business and its stakeholders.

The group recently published their financial results for 2021/22 and reported that has achieved successful growth for the last financial year with an increase in turnover of 42% to £43 million. The firm’s year end profit showed a staggering increase of over 400%!
